Question 1

Does Inbox Triage upload my email anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. Your mail is scanned, analyzed and acted on right on your own computer. Mail content, sender lists and subject lines are never uploaded to Inbox Triage servers, because there are none that receive them. The app makes only direct connections: from your computer to your email provider, so it can read your Inbox and carry out your actions; to a sender's unsubscribe address when you choose to unsubscribe from them; and to this website, to check for updates. No mail data is included in the update check.

Question 2

Does it use AI? Does my mail go to an AI service?

Accepted Answer

No mail is sent to any AI service. Inbox Triage doesn't use cloud AI. Senders are sorted by a transparent, rule-based engine that runs on your Mac. Because it follows clear rules, it can tell you exactly why it flagged something.

Question 3

What does "Why flagged" mean?

Accepted Answer

Every sender the app flags comes with plain-language reasons. You can see exactly why it was flagged before you decide what to do. The reasons come from the on-device rules, not from an opaque model.

Question 4

What permissions does it ask for, and why?

Accepted Answer

For Gmail, the app requests exactly two permissions. The first (gmail.modify) is the working permission: it reads message headers and sizes to build the per-sender inventory, fetches a full message only when you open it, and moves or labels mail in bulk — to Trash, out of the Inbox, or marked read. Nothing it does is permanent. The second (gmail.settings.basic) exists for one feature: blocking a sender. It lets the app create a Gmail filter that keeps the block working while the app is closed. It touches only filters — never forwarding, vacation, delegation or any other setting — and the rest of the app works without it.

Question 5

Where are my sign-in credentials stored?

Accepted Answer

On your own computer. For Google and Microsoft accounts, the access tokens your provider issues stay in a token file on your machine — no server of ours ever receives them. For IMAP accounts, your sign-in details are kept in your operating system's secure credential store: the macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager.

Question 6

Can you read my email?

Accepted Answer

No. We have no server that receives your mail, so there's nothing on our side to read. Everything stays between your computer and your email provider.

Question 7

How do I disconnect an account or revoke access?

Accepted Answer

You can revoke access at any time from the connected-apps settings in your Google or Microsoft account. Once you do, Inbox Triage can no longer reach that mailbox.

Question 8

Is this website tracking me?

Accepted Answer

No. This site has no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party cookies. Fonts are hosted on our own site, so loading a page doesn't tell anyone else you visited. That's also why there's no cookie banner.

Question 9

Can I get my mail back if I delete something?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Deleting always moves mail to Trash or Deleted Items. Inbox Triage never deletes anything permanently. Your email provider's own Trash rules still apply, so mail left in Trash may be emptied after the period your provider sets.

Question 10

Does it touch my Sent mail?

Accepted Answer

No. Scans cover your Inbox only. Sent mail is never touched.

Question 11

How do verified unsubscribes work, and what if one fails?

Accepted Answer

Instead of clicking an unsubscribe link and hoping, the app checks whether the unsubscribe actually worked. If one fails, it shows up in the Failed unsubscribes list. Senders who keep mailing after you unsubscribe show up under Still mailing after unsubscribe, so you can block them.

Question 12

What's the difference between Delete, Unsubscribe and Block?

Accepted Answer

Delete moves a sender's existing mail to Trash. Unsubscribe asks the sender to stop sending you mail, and the app checks that it worked. Block stops new mail from that sender reaching your Inbox.

Question 13

Will Block keep working when the app is closed?

Accepted Answer

On Gmail and Microsoft accounts, yes. The block rule is installed in your own mailbox, so it works 24/7 even when the app is closed, with no third-party server involved. On IMAP accounts, blocking is applied each time the app scans, not continuously.

Question 14

Could it delete something important by mistake?

Accepted Answer

Inbox Triage is built so you stay in control. You can protect the people and companies you always want to keep. Senders are shown ranked, with plain-language reasons for every flag, so you review before you act. And if something does end up in Trash that you wanted, it's recoverable, because deletes are never permanent.

Question 15

Which email providers work?

Accepted Answer

Gmail, Outlook / Microsoft 365, and IMAP providers such as Yahoo, iCloud, Fastmail and AOL.

Question 16

Does it work on Windows?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Inbox Triage is a desktop app for both Mac and Windows. There is no iPhone or Android app.

Question 17

Can I connect more than one account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can connect multiple inboxes and work across them with cross-account awareness. Protected senders can sync across your connected accounts.

Question 18

Which computers are supported?

Accepted Answer

On Mac, Inbox Triage runs on Apple silicon and Intel-based Macs. On Windows, it runs on Windows PCs.

Question 19

Which macOS or Windows version do I need?

Accepted Answer

On Mac, Inbox Triage needs macOS 13.5 or later. On Windows, it needs Windows 10 version 22H2 or later, or Windows 11.

Question 20

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing is to be announced.

Question 21

Do I need an account with you?

Accepted Answer

No. You don't need a separate Inbox Triage account. You connect the email accounts you already use — Gmail, Outlook / Microsoft 365, or an IMAP account.

Question 22

How do I get support?

Accepted Answer
